How to feed
- Feeding management is critical when supplementary feeding lambs. Attention to detail and access to a continuous supply of good quality feed and cool, clean water is essential for maximising feed intake, minimising digestive upsets and optimising production efficiency.
- CopRice Lamb Finisher Pellets have been designed for feeding lambs from as early as weaning, but a starting weight of at least 30kg is preferred.
- New feedstuffs should always be introduced over a period of 14 to 21 days to allow the rumen to adapt.
- Initially it is best to supply pellets at 100 g/head on the ground, with a few older ewes in the mob to train the lambs eating pellets what to do. This practise reduces the number of shy feeders and facilitates easy adaptation onto pellets.
- Make sure all animals have access to all feeds and clean water at all times.
